Lunchbox Fail

When my kids were little, I was a hot mess. It seemed like the other moms were cruising elegantly through parenthood while I was constantly riding with at least one wheel falling off the mom train. My children were Montessori kids and encouraged to do many tasks independently. They had age-appropriate chores such as sweeping the floor, loading the dishwasher and folding laundry. It wasn't always pretty, but it was important that they felt confident in their ability to do things on their own. One day, my kindergartener, for example, packed "hand sanitizer" in her lunchbox and threw in a napkin before we all raced out the door to school. When I unpacked the lunchbox the next day, my jaw dropped. I mean, anyone could have made that mistake, right? The bottles are similar. But why did it have to be MY kid? Mercy! I hope she didn't share the "hand sanitizer" with the rest of the kids at her table. I also hoped to find a dark hole that I could crawl in and never show my face.
