
Originally from Erie, PA, Kira Kimble has been supporting families through pregnancy and childbirth in Charlotte, NC since 2012. She founded MINE-R-T Doula Company, Charlotte’s first black-owned doula agency, in 2019. She also trains doulas, specifically doulas of color, on how to provide culturally competent care. She is an advocate, marketing strategist and doula trainer/mentor throughout the southeast region of the United States. Kira has over a decade of experience as a birth worker specializing in multicultural birth support, plus-size pregnancy, VBAC, multiples, and high risk pregnancies. During her career, she has built a reputation for professional excellence, strategic thinking, advocacy, and leadership while working with a deep passion and commitment to improving the safety of perinatal health. Kira is a founding member of the National Black Doulas Association and the North Carolina Doula Organization where she leads advocacy efforts to increase patient access to doulas while maintaining doula autonomy. Prior to becoming a birth worker, Kira had a career in marketing at The Charlotte Observer, The Gaston Gazette and The Winston-Salem Journal. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in business with concentrations in Business Law and Marketing. She also attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA where she received a global education that inspired her love of languages. She studied Japanese and Spanish and provides doula support to families in both English and Spanish.
