Kira Kimble, CD, believes in revolutionizing birth work and birthing experiences through
advocacy, access, and education. With a reputation for professional excellence, endless
passion, and an unapologetic commitment to improving the safety of perinatal health, Kira has supported hundreds of families through pregnancy and childbirth since 2012. In
2019, Kira founded MINE-R-T Doula Company, Charlotte's first black-owned doula agency.
There, Kira trains doulas, specifically doulas-of-color, on how to provide culturally competent
care while also providing mentoring and consulting services throughout the country.
Kira’s commitment to social justice and inclusive birthing experiences is reflected in her
specialization in multicultural birth support, plus-size pregnancy, VBAC, multiples, and high-risk
pregnancies. Further, Kira’s advocacy orientation led her to become a founding member of the
National Black Doulas Association®, an organization that is now home to more than 200 doulas
globally. Kira is also a Founding Member of the North Carolina Doula Organization. There, Kira
leads advocacy efforts to increase patient access to doulas while maintaining doula autonomy.
Prior to becoming a birth worker, Kira enjoyed a career in marketing with roles at The Charlotte
Observer, The Gaston Gazette, and The Winston-Salem Journal. Kira graduated from Wake
Forest University with a degree in business with concentrations in business law and marketing.
She also attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA where she received a global education that
inspired her love of languages. Kira studied both Japanese and Spanish and provides doula support to families in both English and Spanish.
