Traditional Postpartum Support
MINE-R-T Doula Company offers postpartum services using Indigenous and Traditional Moroccan Postpartum Medicine and Healing. This wisdom comes from Northern Africa, focusing on the first 40 days following birth. We use our hearts and hands to help the new parent heal. It stems from a deep desire to revive, reclaim and restore traditions that have been lost through colonization. The healing practices and practical knowledge has been shared from wise elders and traditional midwives. We use these techniques with their blessing and permission. Our postpartum support is deeply rooted in African culture using the wisdom that has been passed down for generations.
Our traditional birth worker will offer a steam bath with natural herbs, massage, closure of the bones and belly bind. She also prepares a light snack and herbal tea. Closing the bones is bodywork that facilitates the body's return to its pre-pregnancy state while supporting muscles and joints. It's a way of healing from head to toe. Closing provides a sense of protection, warmth, and relaxation. The whole body is hugged and closed, helping to relieve pelvic instability and body aches. It is then followed by belly binding to support the body during the healing process.
